Even though I'm a Beaver, from a betting standpoint, I have to take Fresno State and the points. Fresno State has a huge home field advantage, losing only two times in past four years at home. They have been a dog at home three times in the past four years and covered and won all three, with two blow-outs, including Oregon State in 2001, then a top 5 team.

Oregon State is the far better team, and FSU's QB is hurting, so check status. But there are a number of factors working against OSU. They are not a good road team, posting a 3-8 SU record the past two years. QB Anderson has happy feet, a low completion %, and has not proven he can perform under pressure. Also, HC Riley is conservative, and the potential for back-door cover is good.

As Prophet noted, this has turned into a big rivalry game and these teams hate each other, tons of personal fouls both ways. This is a sandwich game for Fresno State, as next week they have the pleasure of playing at Oklahoma, so look for a stronger effort here than vs. Tennessee.

Talk about a swing in pointspreads, Oasis had this line posted at OSU +4.5 prior to start of season. I think this line is going to drop to 6 or 5 by gametime, so I'm grabbing the 8 now.

More pac-10 thoughts later.

yes I was surprised to see the line so high, but these linesmakers get paid for a reason. They are obviously begging us to take Fresno Here so you never know....I am also assuming that this line may also mean that Fresno QB is out for the game?"

QB and HC Hill reported yesterday that Grady (Starter vs. Tenn) will play and is not hurt...but he looked to be favoring his shoulder during game.

Football Injury Update
Several key Bulldogs are banged up heading into this week's game against Oregon State.

Sept. 2, 2003

FRESNO, Calif. - Following is the current status of the four injured Fresno State starters who are currently down with injuries:

QB Paul Pinegar: Pinegar is expected to miss this week's game due to a torn pectoral muscle suffered during practice two weeks ago. Although he made the trip, he sat out last week's contest at No. 12 Tennessee. He hopes to return to action against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 20.

OT Logan Mankins: A member of the Outland Trophy committee's Watch List, Mankins tore the ACL in his right knee in an Aug. 12 scrimmage and will miss the entire 2003 season. Prior to his injury, Mankins was a strong candidate for several postseason awards.

LG Dartagnon Shack: Shack missed the Tennessee game with a high ankle sprain, which he suffered during an Aug. 12 scrimmage. He worked out with the team in Sunday's non-contact practice and is hopeful of a return against Oregon State. A decision on his playing status will be make later this week.

MLB Marc Dailey: A three-year starter at middle linebacker, Dailey suffered an MCL sprain of his right knee in the second quarter against Tennessee. He will miss this week's game and is not expected to return for a couple of weeks.

Respect your opinions on left coast tms. And all the trends are w/Fresno, but if this line goes below 7 I`m on the Beavers.
